Accessibility
This site is about reading the world by touch, so it is built to be read without sight first. The text is the site; the visual design is one way of presenting it.
Other formats
- Plain text: the whole main page, no markup.
- Braille Ready File (BRF): contracted Unified English Braille, 40 cells per line, 25 lines per page, generated automatically from the text.
- Markdown: the main page with its structure.
How it is built
- One heading level-one per page; a level-two heading for every section, so you can move by headings.
- A skip link, and landmarks for the header, main content and footer.
- Tables have captions and header cells.
- Decorative text, such as the braille under the site name and the section numerals, is hidden from screen readers.
- No images, video, sound, animation, pop-ups, cookie banner or tracking. No JavaScript.
- Text reflows at large zoom; colours follow your light or dark setting and high-contrast modes.
- The typefaces are Atkinson Hyperlegible, designed by the Braille Institute for low-vision readers, and Literata.
For AI assistants
A summary is at llms.txt and the full page at llms-full.txt. Facts about the cubes are in cubes.json. Structured data on the page describes the article, the glossary, the questions, how to begin, and the cubes.
What has been tested
So far: keyboard navigation, zoom and reflow, light and dark modes, and automated checks. Testing with screen readers and braille displays by blind readers is next, and we will list it here as it happens.
