# Tactile cubing > Tactile cubing is solving a twisty puzzle, usually a 3x3 cube, by touch alone, using raised or textured surfaces in place of colours. Each face of a tactile cube has its own texture, so a solver finds every piece by fingertip instead of by eye. Blind and low-vision solvers have practised it for a long time. This site presents it as a concentration practice for sighted people too: holding the cube in the mind like an object of meditation, training the neglected sense of touch (as a sommelier trains smell), noticing how the picture touch makes differs from the picture sight makes, and replacing the phone's cheap rewards with an earned one. Solving one-handed while walking or listening is meditative cross-training for attention. It is not the same as blindfolded solving, where a solver memorises a coloured cube by sight and then solves blindfolded.
